A Regular Meeting of the Flushing City Council was called to order on Monday, February 11, 2002 at 7:30 p.m. by Mayor Janice L. Gensel, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and invocation.

Approval of Agenda – Motion by Szukhent, seconded by Johnson, to add a closed session to the agenda to discuss the purchase of real property.

REPORTS:

 

Fee Schedule for Bonds and Permits – Ordinance 99 – Streets – Motion by Girard, seconded by Bade, to adopt Resolution number 02-0211-A, a resolution to set permit fees and deposits for work proposed within the city right-of-way, as required by the Ordinance Amendment adopted on January 28, 2002.

            Motion Carried.

 

Capital Improvement Program – City administration has completed a five-year Capital Improvement Budget in order to identify projects that are needed for departmental operation.  The items will be included in the budget for fiscal year end June 30, 2003 in a manner and amount that the completed budget can accommodate.

 

            This item was placed on the agenda for council consideration along with a request to city council members to provide written comments prior to March 1st, in order to include additional projects or delete items from the project list.  Once the list is updated with council comments and suggestions, a date will be set for a joint meeting with the Planning Commission, the Parks, Recreation, Environmental and Beautification Committee, and the Teen Committee for final identification and prioritization of the five year plan.

            The process of updating the capital improvement plan on an annual basis is used to annually identify City Council goals.  Programs and services that need to be implemented or modified can also be included as part of this effort.

 

Aberdeen Square Condominiums – Public Road Dedication – Motion by Bade, seconded by Szukhent, to adopt Resolution No. 02-0211 accepting Aberdeen Court and Aberdeen Drive into the Flushing local street system for the purpose of obtaining funds under Act 51, P.A. 1951 as amended.

            Motion Carried.

 

Resolution Accepting Gift – Estate of Elizabeth Stankwitz – Motion by Gault, seconded by Girard, to adopt Resolution No. 02-0211-B, a resolution accepting the bequest to the City of Flushing by Elizabeth Stankwitz for the purposes of establishing a community clock, and that Mrs. Stankwitz’s name be placed on or by the clock in acknowledgement of her bequest to the city.

Executive Session – Motion by Szukhent, seconded by Girard, that pursuant to the Open Meetings Act compiled laws of 15.268(d) to go into closed session to consider the purchase or lease of real property and to consider an option to purchase or lease real estate.
