A Regular Meeting of the Flushing City Council was called to order on Monday, September 23, 2002 at 7:30 p.m. by Mayor Janice L. Gensel, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and invocation.

Approval of Agenda – Motion by Johnson, seconded by Bade, to add Purchase of Real Property under Closed Session.

Proclamation in Recognition of Achievements – Mary Schafer – City Council presented Mary Schafer with a proclamation recognizing her accomplishments as a quilt maker.

CONSENT AGENDA – Motion by Szukhent, seconded by Gault, to approve the consent agenda, City Council Minutes (August 26, 2002 Regular Meeting), September 9, 2002 Council Bills List and September 23, 2002 Council Bills List.

COMMUNICATIONS:

 

Moms Who Care “Lipstick Brigade” – Motion by Szukhent, seconded by Girard, to approve the Moms Who Care request to collect donations for Flushing High School’s Safe Senior Celebration on Friday, October 4th  from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday, October 5th from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

            Motion Carried.

 

BID/AWARD PURCHASES:

 

City Tree Trimming and Stump Removal – Motion by Szukhent, seconded by Bade, to award the bid to provide tree trimming ($89.50/hour) and stump removal ($2.00/inch) services to Aspen Tree Service, Mt. Morris, Michigan.

 

            Yea:     Bade, Gault, Girard, Johnson, Salem, Szukhent, Gensel

            Nay:     None

            Motion Carried.

 

Closed Session – Motion by Szukhent, seconded by Gault, to go into Closed Session to discuss labor negotiations.
