A Regular Meeting of the Flushing City Council was called to order on Monday, August 11, 2003 at 7:30 p.m. by Mayor Janice L. Gensel, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and invocation.

Michigan Municipal League – Designation of Alternate Voting Delegate – Motion by Szukhent, seconded by Salem, to designate Councilperson Johnson as the alternate voting delegate for the City of Flushing at the annual Michigan Municipal League meeting September 17-19, 2003.

Municipal Employees’ Retirement System (MERS) Annual Meeting – Motion by Szukhent, seconded by Bade, to adopt the certification form with Joretta Roy as the employee delegate and Verna LaMay as the employee alternate to represent the city at the Municipal Employees’ Retirement System annual meeting and to authorize the City Manager, Dennis J. Bow, to represent administration.

Summer Hours – Motion by Szukhent, seconded by Gault, to reinstate the original work hours requiring City Hall to be open between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and the work week of all salaried employees be established from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. effective September 1, 2003.

ORDINANCES:

 

Rezone 247 Lynn Street – Motion by Szukhent, seconded by Gault, to move to second reading and adoption the rezoning of 247 Lynn Street from R-1 Single-Family Residential to R-2 Two-Family Residential.

Closed Session – Motion by Szukhent, seconded by Bade, that pursuant to the Open Meetings Act, compiled laws 15.268(d) to go into closed session to consider the purchase or lease of real property and to consider an option to purchase or lease real estate.
