City Council Pay – At the November 24, 2003 meeting, a change to the manner in which City Council is remunerated was discussed and the City Attorney was requested to review the City Charter, as well as State law, pertaining to changes in City Council pay. The City Attorney further reviewed the matter and found nothing in the state constitution or statutes that would prohibit the Council from increasing their own pay, however, he believes that the intent of the City Charter, when drafted, was to permit the Council to only set salaries for future Councils, not the current Council.
City Council Pay – Motion by Szukhent to change Section 30.03 of the City Council Ordinance to read: Council pay shall not exceed $1,000.00 per year.
Motion died for lack of support.
