Sanitary Sewer Infiltration and Inflow Study - Due to the rising costs in treating storm water at the Flushing City Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP), the City Manager requested Rowe Incorporated to prepare a proposal to identify and remove excess infiltration and inflow from the sanitary sewer system. A proposal was submitted, which will aid in eliminating the storm water from the sewer system and possibly identify a water line leak that is suspected of contributing to additional flows in our system.
This type of analysis is needed so that we may make corrections to our sewer system and eliminate significant problems, such as sewer line breaks, major inflows at leaking manholes, and areas of the city that are substantially contributing to storm water inflow through residential and commercial drainage systems.
This proposal was broken down into two (2) components, including meter rentals and engineering analysis. The meter rentals will be made from the City of Swartz Creek, and the prices included in the proposal are more than sufficient to cover those meter rental charges. The engineering analysis will lead to a capacity map that we will use to pinpoint areas where excess flow is occurring. Once complete, system repairs and modifications can begin, thus reducing the Waste Water Plant cost of treating peak storm water flows.
Sanitary Sewer Infiltration and Inflow Study – Motion by Johnson, seconded by Salem, to approve the Sanitary Sewer Infiltration and Inflow study as proposed by Rowe Incorporated.
