A Regular Meeting of the Flushing City Council was called to order on Monday, November 22, 2004, at 7:30 p.m. by Mayor Janice L. Gensel, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and invocation.

Excused Absence – Motion by Szukhent, seconded by Peck, to excuse the absence of Councilperson Gault.

Addition to Agenda – Motion by Szukhent, seconded by Salem, to add Youth Council Fundraising to the agenda as item C2.

            Motion Carried.

 

Approval of Agenda – Motion by Szukhent, seconded by Johnson, to approve the November 22, 2004 agenda as amended.

COMMUNICATIONS:

 

21^st Annual Flushing Community Candlewalk – Motion by Bade, seconded by Szukhent, to approve the Candlewalk Committee’s request to hold the 21^st Annual Community Candlewalk on Thursday, December 2^nd and Friday, December 3^rd, 2004.

            Nay:     None

            Motion Carried.

 

REPORTS:

 

Preliminary Engineering Contract – W. Pierson Road – Motion by Johnson, seconded by Bade, to approve the preliminary engineering contract with Rowe, Inc. for the design of W. Pierson Road paving in an amount not to exceed $24,858.00.

Youth Council Fundraising – Motion by Bade, seconded by Salem, to authorize the Youth Council to raise funds by sponsoring an empty printer ink cartridge return drive, and that any further fundraising plans be approved by the City Manager prior to the event.

            Motion Carried.

 

 BID/AWARD PURCHASES:

 

Pump Repair – Motion by Bade, seconded by Johnson, to approve the bid for pump removal, rebuild and reinstallation at the Birchwood lift station, from Kennedy Industries, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $8,975.00.

 

            Yea:     Bade, Johnson, Peck, Salem, Szukhent, Gensel

            Nay:     None

            Motion Carried.
