A Regular Meeting of the Flushing City Council was called to order on Monday, December 13, 2004, at 7:30 p.m. by Mayor Janice L. Gensel, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and invocation.

Excused Absence – Motion by Szukhent, seconded by Peck, to excuse the absence of Councilperson Gault.

            Motion Carried.

 

Agenda – Motion by Szukhent, seconded by Bade, to change the order of the agenda to allow the Presentation to precede MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.

PRESENTATION:

 

The Mayor presented Boy Scout Troop 302 and the Flushing Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) with a Proclamation recognizing their community service in erecting a fence for a City resident.

PRESENTATION:

 

BKR Dupuis & Ryden – 2003-2004 Audit – Tadd Harburn and Angela Stevens, representing BKR Dupuis & Ryden, the City’s independent auditors, presented the City’s 2003-2004 financial audit.

 

CONSENT AGENDA – Motion by Szukhent, seconded by Johnson, to approve City Council Minutes (November 22, 2004 Regular Meeting) and December 13, 2004 Council Bills List.

COMMUNICATIONS:

 

2005 Michigan Municipal League Legislative Conference – Communication was received notifying the City of the 2005 Michigan Municipal League Legislative Conference to be held on March 23, 2005.

 

REPORTS:

 

December Meeting Schedule – Motion by Bade, seconded by Salem, to cancel the December 27, 2004 City Council meeting.

BID/AWARD PURCHASES:

 

Copiers – Motion by Szukhent, seconded by Johnson, to approve the purchase of one Canon imageRUNNER-5000 Series Copier and one imageRUNNER-3570 Copier from Hasselbring-Clark of Lansing, Michigan, for an estimated cost of $16,990.00.

Closed Session – Motion by Szukhent, seconded by Peck, that pursuant to the Open Meetings Act compiled laws 15.268(c) to go into closed session to consider strategies connected with the negotiations of a collective bargaining agreement.
