A Regular Meeting of the Flushing City Council was called to order on Monday, April 11, 2005, at 7:47 p.m. by Mayor Janice L. Gensel, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and invocation.

Approval of Agenda – Motion by Szukhent, seconded by Salem, to approve the April 11, 2005 agenda.

REPORTS:

 

Street Acceptance Resolutions – Cole Creek Meadows and Beacon Point – Motion by Szukhent, seconded by Peck, to adopt Resolution No. 05-0411, accepting the continuation of Windy Bluff and Primrose Lane located in the Cole Creek Meadows development, and Resolution No. 05-0411-A, accepting Beacon Point Parkway located in the Beacon Point development, into the Flushing local street system for the purpose of obtaining funds under Act 51, P.A. 1951, as amended.

ITEMS FOR FUTURE PUBLIC HEARINGS:

 

2005-2006 Budget – Motion by Szukhent, seconded by Bade, to set a public hearing on the 2005-2006 Flushing City Budget for Monday, April 25, 2005 at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall, 309 E. Main Street, Flushing, Michigan.

            Nay:     None

            Motion Carried.

 

ORDINANCES:

 

Establishing Enforcement Agency – State Construction Code and Zoning Ordinances – Motion by Szukhent, seconded by Gault, to move to second reading and adoption an Ordinance to amend the City Code, designating the building inspector as the enforcing agent to the State Building Code, the Blight Prevention Ordinance, the Sign Ordinance, the Fence Ordinance, and the Dangerous Buildings Ordinance.

Zoning Ordinance Amendment – Accessory Buildings – Motion by Szukhent, seconded by Gault, to approve a first reading to modify Section 153.901(AY)3 of the Flushing Zoning Ordinance as follows:

 

            “An accessory building or structure may not occupy more than 10% of the rear yard with the exception that in residential districts, the maximum floor area for detached accessory buildings is 600 square feet, or 10% of the rear yard; whichever is greater.  In the event where 10% of the rear yard area is exceeded, the maximum number of detached accessory buildings is limited to one (1), subject to the 600 square foot limitation.”
