A Regular Meeting of the Flushing City Council was called to order on Monday, August 22, 2005 at 7:30 p.m. by Mayor Janice L. Gensel, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and invocation.

Approval of Agenda – Motion by Szukhent, seconded by Bade, to approve the August 22, 2005 agenda.

MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC:

Elva Cook, 1459 Flushing Road, addressed City Council.

Consent Agenda – Motion by Szukhent, seconded by Salem, to approve City Council Minutes (August 8, 2005 Regular Meeting), and August 22, 2005 Council Bills List.

REPORTS:

Municipal Employees’ Retirement System Annual Meeting – Motion by Szukhent, seconded by Kozan, to adopt the certification form with Ted Thomas as the employee delegate and Joretta Roy as the employee alternate to represent the city at the Municipal Employees’ Retirement System annual meeting, and to authorize the City Manager, Dennis J. Bow, to represent administration.

City Hall/Police Station – Change Order – Building Sign – Motion by Bade, seconded by Szukhent, to approve a change order with Siwek Construction for the installation of a brick screen wall for the entrance sign at the new City Hall/Police Station.

BID/AWARD PURCHASES:

Re-Roofing the Laboratory/Office Building – WWTP – Motion by Szukhent, seconded by Gault, to award the bid for re-roofing the laboratory/office building at the wastewater treatment plant to Morrow’s Roofing, Flushing, Michigan, in the amount of $6,018.00 plus $1.10 per square foot to replace the wood sheeting as needed.

125 E. Main Street (Duffy’s Bar) – Transfer of License – Motion by Bade, seconded by Kozan, to approve the resolution transferring a Class C license for Kanera, LLC from Prosser Incorporated, at 125 E. Main Street.
