A Special Meeting of the Flushing City Council was called to order on Wednesday, September 7, 2005 at 4:00 p.m. by Mayor Janice L. Gensel, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and invocation.

MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC – Elva Cook, 1459 Flushing Road, addressed City Council.

 

New City Council Board Table and Matching Podium – The City Manager stated that the board table and podium are items that are not being purchased off the shelf or through a catalog; they are custom made pieces.  It is a design/build quotation.  The purchasing ordinance contains a waiver, which can be used for custom made and specialty items.  There are eleven (11) seats listed, and what is included is what was included in the original bid specification for the building.  The reason for the eleven seats is to accommodate the nine member Planning Commission, plus two others (i.e. planner, city attorney, city manager).  The first drawing in the packet is of the recommended board table.  The board table and podium will have electrical service built into them.  Also included are five (5) LCD monitors built into the board table, which, in the future, will be connected to the television set in the council chambers.  The board table and podium will be completed prior to completion of the new Council Chambers.  Mr. Smith comes highly recommended by several area businesses and residents.

 

New City Council Board Table and Matching Podium – Motion by Bade, seconded by Kozan, to contract with Jonathan Smith Builder to build a new city council board table and matching podium.
