A Regular Meeting of the Flushing City Council was called to order on Monday, September 24, 2007 at 7:30 p.m. by Mayor Janice L. Gensel, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and invocation.

Excused Absence – Motion by Szukhent, seconded by Bade, to excuse the absence of Councilperson Salem.

            Motion Carried.

 

Approval of Agenda - Motion by Szukhent, seconded by Gault, to approve the September 24, 2007 agenda.

PRESENTATIONS:

 

The Mayor and Council presented Mr. Christopher Langtry with a proclamation in appreciation for his Eagle Scout project, as it involved the repair of veterans’ headstones in the Flushing Cemetery.

Consent Agenda - Motion by Gault, seconded by Bade, to approve City Council Minutes (September 10, 2007 Regular Meeting), City Council Minutes (September 10, 2007 Closed Session) and September 24, 2007 Council Bills List.

COMMUNICATIONS:

 

Pumpkin Path Family Walk – Motion by Gault, seconded by Szukhent, to approve the Parks and Recreation Committee’s request to hold the 3rd annual Pumpkin Path Family Walk on Riverview Trail on October 20, 2007.

 

            Yea:     Bade, Gault, Kozan, Szukhent, Gensel

            Nay:     None

            Motion Carried.

 

Relay for Life – Motion by Bade, seconded by Szukhent, to approve the American Cancer Society’s request to use Riverview Park for the 8th annual Flushing Relay for Life on June 20 and 21, 2008.

            Nay:     None

            Motion Carried.

 

REPORTS:

 

Senior Center Lease – Motion by Szukhent, seconded by Gault, to adopt the Flushing Area Senior Citizens’ Center Lease and authorize the Mayor and City Clerk/Treasurer to sign the lease on behalf of the City.

APPOINTMENTS:

 

Council Appointment – District 3 – Motion by Gault, seconded by Szukhent, to appoint Mark F. Brock, to fill the District 3 City Council position vacancy created by the resignation of Paul Gentine.

 

            Yea:     Bade, Gault, Kozan, Szukhent, Gensel

            Nay:     None

            Motion Carried.

 

            The City Clerk/Treasurer administered the Oath of Office to Mr. Brock.
