REPORTS:

Personnel Fringe Benefits – The City Manager presented Council with proposed changes to the personnel rules governing the administrative staff.  The City Manager informed Council that the City has an employee that is terminally ill at this time and, upon review of our personnel and health policies, he recommended changes be made to the policy.  In order to accommodate that situation, he recommended amending the personnel rules to include a section, which allows for employees with a terminal illness to continue for their family’s health benefits, if they have a minimum of ten years of service.  It also assumes that policy changes anticipated in 2008 for all administrative personnel will also apply to any employee with a terminal issue.  Dental and vision insurance would also be provided to the employees’ family.  Benefits would be extended to dependants that are not available through future employment and circumstances.
