A Regular Meeting of the Flushing City Council was called to order on Monday, March 10, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. by Mayor Janice L. Gensel, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and invocation.

Approval of Agenda - Motion by Szukhent, seconded by Bade, to approve the March 10, 2008 agenda.

COMMUNICATIONS:

 

Capital Improvement Schedule - The Flushing Planning Commission has concluded modifications to the Capital Improvements Schedule.  This schedule is an integral part of our city master plan, and is used as a planning document for purposes of budget preparation and goal setting.

 

A joint meeting will be held in April and, in anticipation of that meeting, the city manager requested the mayor and city council members to provide any recommended additions, deletions, or modifications to the plan by Friday, March 21, 2008.

 

A & W Restaurant – 2008 Cruise Night Series - Motion by Bade, seconded by Salem, to approve A & W Restaurant's request to hold their 2008 Cruise Night series on the following nights:

 

                        April 19, 2008                          August 16, 2008

                        May 17, 2008                          September 20, 2008

                        June 21, 2008                          October 18, 2008

                        July 19, 2008

ITEMS FOR FUTURE PUBLIC HEARINGS:

 

Canoe Launch – Resolution in Support of Grant Application – Motion by Szukhent, seconded by Kozan, to hold a public hearing at 7:30 p.m. on March 24, 2008 at City Hall, 725 E. Main Street, Flushing, Michigan, for the purpose of discussing a Resolution in Support of Grant Application for a canoe launch.

            Nay:     None

BID/AWARD PURCHASES:

 

Police Cruiser Equipment – Motion by Kozan, seconded by Gault, to approve the low bid for police cruiser equipment from Fire Equipment Associates, Flushing, Michigan, in an amount not to exceed $7,650.00.

            Motion Carried.

 

ORDINANCES:

 

Sign Ordinance Amendment – Motion by Bade, seconded by Salem, to move to first reading, amendments to the Sign Ordinance regarding digital signs.

            Motion Carried.
