Doc Phillips’ Recognition – The city received a request to consider relocating a plaque that was posted in council chambers at our former city hall. In addition to his many years of service, Doc Phillips was described by former Councilman Frank McCarty, as “one of the best financial persons the city has ever seen.” Doc Phillips ran a small animal clinic on Commerce Drive off of Pierson Road, from 1964 to 1987. He also served on the County Board of Commissioners and was a Trustee for the Michigan Municipal League. He was also active in the Flushing Lions Club and the local Chamber of Commerce.
