A Special Joint Meeting of the Flushing City Council and Flushing Planning Commission was called to order on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. by Mayor Janice L. Gensel, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and invocation.

A Capital Improvement schedule was presented by the City Manager for review and discussion.  Capital Improvements is a chapter in the Master Plan, and must be updated annually.  There have been new ideas submitted by Council/Planning Commission members under recreation, such as ice rink schedule, farmer’s market and paddle boat livery.  Under the Cultural Section, an addition is the combination of the Senior Center and library in a new complex.

 

            The City Manager presented the Resident Survey results (attached hereto and made a part hereof).  The objectives of the survey were to:  establish benchmarks for municipal services, determine priorities for expenditures, determine support for planned projects, and to develop a community profile.

 

            Both the City Council and Planning Commission will discuss the survey results at their respective meetings, and another joint meeting will be set in the future.
