S.A.L.T. volunteer hours are Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
VEHICLE PATROL AND VACATION HOME CHECKS
Volunteers patrol the city in a vehicle provided by the Flushing Police Department, and monitor homes whose occupants are away. If any signs of problems are found, the Flushing police Department is immediately contacted. Flushing residents can request the vacation check service by completing a request form that can be obtained at police headquarters and submitting it at the police department or faxing it to 810-659-8059
TRAFFIC CONTROL
S.A.L.T. volunteers assist during the Summer Festival, Candle Walk, Concerts in the Park and other large community events for traffic control when requested. The volunteers are in uniform and are equipped to be able to summons emergency personnel if necessary.
PARKING ENFORCEMENT
S.A.L.T. volunteers assist in keeping parking restrictions enforced. Volunteers are authorized to issue handicap and overtime parking violations.
SAFE HOMES FOR SENIORS
S.A.L.T. provides and installs (at no cost) safety items to qualified senior citizens. Smoke alarms, fire extinguishers, dead bolt locks, 911 light switches and 911 reflective signs are available to residents 62 years of age or older.
MEMBERSHIP
If you are 52 years of age or older and a resident of the Flushing School District, we would like you join our membership. If you are interested, call our office or stop by and we will be glad to provide you information on this wonderful organization. We meet once a month on the third Tuesday of each month at 10:00 a.m. in the Flushing City Council Chambers and hours of service are scheduled monthly.
